Te Koi the lodge is the communal heart of the property. Its rich, warmly decorated rooms feature a fine dining room enjoyed in the evenings, breakfast in the sunny mornings and lunches and aperitifs on the outdoor deck are the perfect place to  enjoy the local delicacies prepared by in house chef, Ali Metcalfe. The European styled spaces hint at the changing rhythms throughout the day. Bright sunny mornings flow into lazy afternoons and indulgent evenings spent grazing on the kitchen’s tasty local bites, perfectly matched with local wines. Nightly three course dinners are NZ$150 a person and include aperitifs on the deck and delicious local wines. Lunch or grazing plates can be arranged at will. All produce is local and seasonal, including specialities from the Te Koi garden.

We had a wonderful salmon smoked over manuka chips which will linger in the memory long after we return to the northern hemisphere.
